Sketch 6

This image represents texture and was taken at Elfin Forest. I purposely edited this picture to make it look different from what it originally looks. This is a picture of a trunk and may look something different. I like to play a lot with color and changing the original picture to something unreal.

I took this picture from above by the lake. There was a small waterfall that was creating these white foam on the water. I reduced its exposure and made the whites stand out more. The reason why I made is seem like this is because I want my audience to see more that just one thing in this image.

I was trying to represent line for this image. My main focus was on the top right since the end of the rail is closer to me. I really like the color on the rail. It doesn’t have much texture to it due to my hands being shaky. This image would’ve turned out better if I had a tripod with me.

I played around editing this picture because I wanted to create something unique and different from the original picture. When I was messing with the hue, the only color that the water would change is purple. It was strange to me that the hue mostly picked up that color.

This is a picture of my classmate named Ian. We were practicing using the reflector for our class. This shot was taken by the lake at Elfin Forest. He has a nice skin tone making his face glow a bit. I like the back lighting from his body making appear more visible.

Sally Mann Video
What I think about Sally’s work is that it’s very unique. A lot of her work is about her family and mainly towards her children. Several of her images are taken at home and would sometimes use her husband as the model when the kids grew older. There were some people that are not okay with her work because people thought that some images of her children showed child pornography. In addition to that, Sally would take pictures of dead bodies. This seems very creepy and crazy, especially when she said she wanted to touch the blood of the person that shot himself by her home. Throughout her work she would take her images on a 8 x 10 view camera and this gave a realistic quality in her work. Overall, I never knew about a Sally Mann and her unique images. I like how she focuses a lot about what she thinks and worries less what others say in her work.
The family reflection was so touching. Every family has their challenges and we have all be able to overcome. Its great to see you reflect on this valuable time.
