Community Project
For this community project I want to show how my job is helping the community during this time of COVID19. Due to stores being closed, a lot more people are ordering stuff online since they can’t be outside of their homes. I work for Amazon as a delivery driver and I noticed a few things after the virus started to spread. I used to receive a few packages to deliver and this was an average of 150 packages. Now that people are being quarantined at home and order stuff online, our package count went up to 300 plus packages. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me until I looked at the time and saw that I would leave work later than usual. I used to finish within the 8 hours but now I work longer and work 10 hours or more. Aside from how COVID 19 has affected me, I’m glad that I am part of helping my community. I consider the packages as smile’s because I deliver the customer’s satisfaction to their front door. Every time I go in to work it feels like slavery and I push myself a lot to make sure I deliver their smiles to them. The images shown above show my day in life as a delivery driver. When I’m out on the road, so many people say hi, they cheer, give us water, smile, or have signs saying thank you. When I see the signs that say thank you I start to feel good about myself because I get to deliver what the people want/need and it makes them happy even though we are going through these hard times. I was hoping to take more images where people sort the packages on the racks, but Amazon has very strict rules. I had to take images from far away where I load the packages. Overall it is a memorable experience to be working during this time and helping the people by delivering their needs.
My experience
After taking this class I learned a lot of new things about photography and the editing process. I enjoyed the activities that we did in class in which helped strengthen my skills for photography. I really had wished that the rest of the semester was still taught in class because I was more focused. I was very limited in time and I feel like I didn’t push myself on most of my assignments. I personally don’y like having online classes because it is hard to manage time, especially since I work. Overall, I hope to apply everything I learned for future project and maybe focus more on photography for now on.
